OVERVIEW:
Region II EMS is part of the Georgia Department of Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Our primary responsibility is to oversee ambulance and medical first responder operations in Northeast Georgia. We are also responsible for licensing ambulance services, making recommendations for primary response zones (i.e., 911 and government agency primary responders), coordinating EMT and paramedic schools, and monitoring/coordinating continuing education for the EMT's, cardiac technicians, and paramedics who serve within our 13-county region. From the shores of Lake Lanier to the peak of Brasstown Bald and the areas surrounding - Region II EMS is a leader in pre-hospital care.
Region II serves the 734,899 residents in the 3,516 total square mile area with 19 licensed ambulance services. It has nine general hospitals including Northeast Georgia Medical Center, which serves as the Regional Coordinating Hospital. NEGMC is a Level II Trauma Center, an accredited Stroke Care Center and has been named Georgia's Number 1 Heart Hospital for the past seven years by Health Grades.
Region II Medical Director
Dr. Mohak Dave' serves as the Regional Medical Director for Region II. Dr. Dave' is a native of Ohio and attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in college, he served as a volunteer EMT for Orange County Rescue Squad in Hillsborough, NC. Dr. Dave' attended medical school at the University of South Carolina where he graduated Cum Laude in 1999, and he served his residency at the Cleveland Clinic/ Metro Health Medical Center. During his residency he served as a flight physician for MetroLife Flight, the second busiest aeromedical service in the United States.
He has been a practicing ER physician since 2002, and has served at Northeast Georgia Medical Center since 2005. Dr. Dave' has been instrumental in developing the Region II EMS STEMI Protocol and is a tireless worker as NEGMC pursues it designation as a trauma center. He truly cares for and stands for quality EMS.
Dr. Dave's Mission Statement as our Medical Director reads as follows:
"It is an honor to serve as the EMS Medical Director for Region II. This section of Georgia includes some of the fastest growing counties in the nation. The EMS personnel that compose the numerous services in Region II are compassionate, hard-working, and dedicated to delivering the best pre-hospital care. It is my aim as your medical director to be readily accessible, involved, and committed to the medics and patients of the region."
